Coming Together
As we reflect on our recent gathering of church partner leaders in Jackson, we give thanks to God for the ways he is bringing the vision of the Church Leadership Co-operative to life. Though this internship program began in one church, the heart of the program has always been connection, specifically connecting with people who have unique perspectives, experiences, and lessons that we can learn from. It’s with that in mind that we have expanded our network from one college town to communities and churches across the state of Mississippi...and we are much better off for it!
Represented in The Co-op this year are churches from as far north as New Albany, as far south as Ocean Springs, and many in between. To add to our geographical diversity, we are thankful that this partnership consists of churches of different sizes, backgrounds, and histories. The depth that this diversity adds to our discernment and planning makes us all the more excited for what God has in store for the summer of 2020. We believe that continuing to pursue diversity in The Co-op will also make us more faithful to the overall work of the Kingdom of God in Mississippi.
As we came together to pray and plan, it was awesome to celebrate the unique work that each local church is feeling called to as of late. Some churches have been focusing heavily on renewed digital outreach strategies that can serve as an on-ramp to those outside of the Church. Some have focused more on what it means to be a faithful church in the inner-city. Some have felt uniquely called to become rooted in God’s work in small communities. The list goes on and on.
No matter what unique work each church has been called to may be, we all have in common our desire to see our work be done for the sake of the Gospel and for the betterment of Mississippi.
We are bound together in that desire and in the mission of The Co-op: to identify, equip, and create community among young Christian leaders who are seeking the renewal of Mississippi and the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
